Everyday Disciple – Matthew – Week 2
✝️ Crosspoint Community Church Devotional
Everyday Disciple: Week 2
“You don’t have to be qualified to be called – Jesus specializes in using imperfect people for His perfect purposes.”
📖 Day 1: Called from Our Tax Booth
Scripture: Matthew 9:9
Reflection:
Just as Jesus called Matthew from his tax booth—the very place that defined his sin—He calls us from wherever we are. No matter what defines us or our past, Jesus sees us and calls us by name.
Consider: What “tax booth” is Jesus calling you from today?
Prayer Focus: Thank God for His willingness to call us despite our unworthiness.
🧼 Day 2: The Inside of the Cup
Scripture: Matthew 23:25–26
Reflection:
Jesus cares more about our heart transformation than our outward appearances. The sermon reminds us that God is concerned with the inside of the cup rather than just the outside.
Consider: What areas of your heart need transformation?
Prayer Focus: Ask God to transform you from the inside out.
🍽️ Day 3: Dining with Sinners
Scripture: Matthew 9:10–11
Reflection:
Matthew immediately invited other “sinners” to meet Jesus. When we encounter Jesus, our natural response should be to invite others to experience Him too.
Consider: Who in your life needs to meet Jesus?
Prayer Focus: Pray for opportunities to share Jesus with others.
🐴 Day 4: From Donkey to Disciple
Scripture: Numbers 22:21–31 (Balaam’s donkey)
Reflection:
The sermon reminds us that God can use anyone—even a donkey! We all have moments of both “Jesus vibes” and “donkey vibes.”
Consider: How can you surrender both your strengths and weaknesses to God’s use?
Prayer Focus: Submit yourself to God’s purposes, even in your imperfections.
⚖️ Day 5: Equal at the Cross
Scripture: Galatians 3:28
Reflection:
At the cross, we all stand on equal footing. There are no social hierarchies in God’s kingdom.
Consider: How does this truth change how you view others and yourself?
Prayer Focus: Thank God for the leveling power of the cross.
❤️ Day 6: Known and Loved
Scripture: Romans 5:8
Reflection:
Jesus sees us at our worst and still calls us to follow Him. He doesn’t wait for us to clean up our act first.
Consider: How does it feel to be fully known and still fully loved?
Prayer Focus: Rest in God’s unconditional love.
🦋 Day 7: Walking in the Way (Halakah)
Scripture: Romans 12:2
Reflection:
Following Jesus is a lifelong journey of transformation. Like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly, God wants to transform our perspective and character.
Consider: What evidence of transformation do you see in your life?
Prayer Focus: Ask God to continue His transforming work in your life.
