Crosspoint Community Church Blog Everyday Disciple: Week 3
Embracing Our Unique Call
In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of responsibilities, distractions, and the never-ending to-do lists. Yet, amidst the chaos, we are reminded of the profound simplicity and depth of being a disciple of Jesus. The story of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus offers us timeless lessons on what it means to embrace our unique call in Christ.
📣 Called by Name
One of the most beautiful aspects of Jesus’ ministry was His personal approach. He called His disciples by name, inviting them into a transformative relationship. This personal call extends to each of us today. We are not just another face in the crowd; we are known and loved individually by our Savior.
Reflection: Are you listening for His voice? Are you ready to follow?
👩🦰 The Role of Women in Ministry
The sermon highlighted the significant roles women played in Jesus’ ministry, challenging cultural norms of the time. From Mary, the mother of Jesus, to Mary Magdalene and many others, women played an integral role in the spread of the Gospel.
Scripture Reminder: Galatians 3:28 – In Christ, there is neither male nor female; all are one.
Reflection: How has God uniquely gifted you to serve?
🪑 Choosing the Better Part
Mary’s choice to sit at Jesus’ feet, despite the busyness around her, reminds us to prioritize our relationship with Him. In a world that values productivity, we are called to pause and be present with Jesus.
Reflection: Where can you create space to be still with Him?
🔕 Overcoming Distractions
Martha’s story resonates with many of us who find ourselves distracted by life’s demands. Jesus gently reminds us that only one thing is necessary: to be with Him.
Reflection: What distractions can you set aside to focus on Christ?
🌱 From Death to Life
The miraculous story of Lazarus being raised from the dead illustrates the new life we have in Christ. Just as Lazarus was called out of the tomb, we too are called out of our old ways into a vibrant, resurrected life.
Reflection: How has Jesus transformed your life?
🎁 Offering Our Best to Jesus
Mary’s act of anointing Jesus with expensive perfume symbolizes the offering of our best to Him. This means dedicating our time, talents, and treasures to His service.
Reflection: What valuable part of your life can you offer to Jesus today?
🌍 Living as Everyday Disciples
Being a disciple of Jesus is not confined to Sunday mornings or church activities. It is a daily commitment to live out His teachings in every aspect of our lives.
Reflection: How can you be His hands and feet in your community?
