Background: Jesus is on His way to Jerusalem, where He will face crucifixion. He takes this time to teach His disciples about true greatness in the Kingdom of God.

  • What does Jesus predict will happen to Him in Jerusalem?
  • How do you think the disciples felt hearing this prediction for the third time?
  • Why is it significant that Jesus is leading the way to Jerusalem?

  • What do James and John ask of Jesus, and what does this reveal about their understanding of His mission?
