Scripture: Matthew 6:25-34

Icebreaker: Ask each participant to share one thing they are currently worried about. Encourage openness and honesty, ensuring a supportive and non-judgmental environment.

Scripture Reading

  • Read Matthew 6:25-34 aloud as a group. Consider having different participants read different sections to involve everyone.

Discussion Questions

  1. Understanding Worry:
  • What are the specific things Jesus tells us not to worry about in this passage?
  • How does Jesus use the examples of birds and lilies to illustrate God’s provision?
  1. Trusting God’s Provision:
  • What does it mean to be more valuable than birds and lilies in God’s eyes?
  • How can this understanding help us trust God more with our daily needs?
  1. Practical Application:
  • How can we apply the principle of not worrying about tomorrow in our daily lives?
  • What are some practical steps we can take to shift our focus from worry to trust?

Worry to Worship Exercise:

  • Provide each participant with a piece of paper. On one side, have them write down a current worry. On the other side, write a prayer of thanksgiving related to that worry, focusing on God’s past faithfulness and provision.
  • Encourage participants to share their prayers with the group if they feel comfortable.

Personal Reflection:

Ask participants to reflect silently on one area of their life where they need to trust God more. Encourage them to commit to praying about this area daily for the next week.

Group Sharing:

Invite participants to share any insights or commitments they have made during the session. Encourage accountability by pairing participants to check in with each other during the week.

Prayer Focus:

Pray for trust in God’s provision and the ability to release worries to Him. Ask for peace and the strength to focus on God’s kingdom and righteousness.
