Kenny Baker

Student Minister

Born and raised in Amarillo, Texas, I moved to La Grange shortly after Thanksgiving in 1998.  My father had recently purchased the Dodge dealership, and I followed them here to join the “family business”.  I like to tell people that God obviously had a plan for me because two weeks after I arrived, I met the woman that I would eventually marry.  My wife, Deandrea, and I were married on April 21, 2001.  We have been blessed to raise our two children, Kendall and Kallen, in this special community.

I came to know Christ at an early age, and church has been a regular part of my life for as long as I can remember.  I come from a strong Southern Baptist family and some of my fondest memories of faith and family come from attending my grandparents small but lively church deep in the heart of Mississippi whenever we would visit.  When my wife and I were looking for a church home shortly after my daughter was born, Crosspoint (formerly Second Baptist) was the first place we visited.  Consequently, it was the only church we visited.  We were so moved by the way everyone welcomed us that we didn’t see any need to keep looking and became members shortly after.

My wife and I have both been active in serving the different ministries at Crosspoint.  Deandrea was the Children’s Pastor From 2010 – 2017.  In 2013, I began volunteering with the youth ministry.  As God worked on my heart and I matured in my faith, I began to feel drawn away from my career in the car business more toward a calling that I didn’t fully understand yet.  After almost ten years volunteering with the student ministry, God created a scenario that allowed me to leave my profession and go back to school.  It wasn’t long after that, in 2022, that I was asked to become the full time youth pastor here at Crosspoint.

Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”  When I consider that verse, I can’t help but think about all of the pieces God moved to put me right where He wanted me and how eternally grateful I am that He did.
